Aloe vera: Benefits, uses and advice
A plant with a thousand virtues, aloe vera has been used for thousands of years for its benefits for the skin, digestion and the body.
Appreciated both for external use and as a dietary supplement, it has established itself as a natural ally in everyday life.
At La Spiruline du Rocher, our passion for superfoods naturally led us to this extraordinary plant.
After mastering the cultivation of spirulina, we wanted to enrich our range with aloe vera, convinced that these two treasures of nature complement each other perfectly.
We are committed to cultivating high-quality superfoods in harmony with nature.
While we await the first harvest of our aloe vera grown under the Provence sun, discover its uses, benefits and our tips for getting the most out of it on this page.
What is aloe vera?
Aloe vera is a succulent plant that has been used for over 5,000 years for its many virtues.
Highly resistant, it grows naturally in hot, arid regions around the world.
Provence: an exceptional terroir for aloe vera
Our Provence region offers ideal conditions for this demanding crop: generous sunshine (more than 300 days per year), a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, and well-drained soils that prevent stagnant moisture.
These natural conditions allow our plants to concentrate a maximum of active ingredients in their fleshy leaves.
It is precisely these leaves that contain a gel rich in nutrients: vitamins (A, C, E, B), enzymes, amino acids, polysaccharides and essential minerals.
Its richness in natural active ingredients makes it an ingredient of choice in the fields of cosmetics, phytotherapy and natural nutrition.
The benefits of aloe vera
For the skin
Aloe vera gel is known for its properties:
-
Moisturising and soothing: it penetrates the epidermis quickly without leaving a greasy film.
-
Regenerating: it supports cell renewal.
-
Purifying: ideal for blemished or reactive skin.
This is why it is the key ingredient in many natural soaps, creams and skincare products.
For digestion
When taken internally (particularly in the form of purified juice or supplements), aloe vera can help to:
-
Support digestive comfort
-
Soothe temporary intestinal discomfort
-
Promote better nutrient absorption
For natural defences
Thanks to its antioxidant- and polysaccharide-rich composition, aloe vera helps support the body's natural defence mechanisms.

Why choose artisanal, locally sourced aloe vera?
Not all aloe vera is created equal.
As with spirulina, the traceability and freshness of the plant are essential criteria for guaranteeing its richness in active ingredients.
Our unique artisanal method:
At La Spiruline du Rocher, we cultivate our aloe vera with the same standards as our spirulina:
-
Grown without chemical treatments under the Provençal sun (our plants enjoy 8 to 10 hours of direct sunlight every day)
-
Hand-picking of the most mature leaves in the early morning to preserve their freshness
-
Immediate extraction: the gel is extracted within 2 hours of harvesting to preserve all its active ingredients
-
Local processing, short supply chains: from plant to finished product in less than 48 hours
-
No unnecessary ingredients: no chemical preservatives, no additives
The result?
Aloe vera of exceptional purity, where every drop of gel concentrates the power of the Mediterranean sun.
Our goal: to offer simple, effective products that are kind to the skin and the planet.
Spirulina and aloe vera: a natural synergy
These two super ingredients complement each other perfectly:
-
Aloe vera soothes, moisturises and purifies
-
Spirulina nourishes, revitalises and protects
In cosmetics and dietary supplements, their combination offers a balanced approach between external care and internal nutrition.
An ideal duo for stressed, tired or blemish-prone skin.
